The structure is set into the hillside and is therefore of semi basement design. The walls and ground floor slab have been complimented by the addition of Xypex Waterproof Crystals added to the concrete to provide a fully waterproof envelope to ensure security from water ingress to the property.
Pour of the slab was commenced 08:30 Tuesday. The specialist joint detail was added the next morning with construction of the walls beginning that afternoon. The walls were completed and ready for concrete by Thursday afternoon 16:30. Pour of the walls which are engineered to retain the hillside above, with the specialist concrete being vibrated to ensure complete compaction, began at 09:00 and was completed by 14:00.
Perimeter scaffolding was added and the lower walls completed and poured 11 days later. Project elapsed time to date is just 14 days from the ground slab pour.
The first hollow core slab was laid starting at 09:00, the final slab laid going into place just 2 hours later at 11:00. Grouting was completed after that afternoon.
The project is currently ongoing and will encompass the use of concrete hollowcore floors and be covered with an insulated panel roof, VR Slimfix

Solums and concrete floor were completed by 22th February.
Tuesday 26th February saw the ICF team build to first floor, both units completed Friday 29th February.
The concrete pour of both units commenced at 8.00am and was completed by 1.00pm Saturday 1st March. Total concrete placed: 36m3; Average rate: 7.2 m3 per hour; Shortest unload: 6m3 in 15 minutes.
The second part of this project was constructed and concreted successfully during a week of severe gale force winds, demonstrating that you can build ICF in windy weather. It is also testament to the skills of the ICF Team we deployed on this contract.
ICF can be constructed and filled in heavy rain and sub zero temperatures and, as proved on this contract, during gale force wind conditions that would stop other build methods. Timber floors and supporting studs were installed, with the final ICF walls constructed and ready for concrete on the 13th March.
Total complete wall build time from foundation to roof was 4 weeks, the actual wall build and fill time being 11 days.
Deep Basement Extension
This house is a converted bunker that was originally one of four London group controls, or regional war rooms.
It had been disused since 1958, until it was bought and renovated to create what will be a multi-million pound residency.
